What are your opinions on which is the best pay as you go phone plan or some sort of alternative?

Would like to get my sons phones but don't want them running up huge bills by downloading, songs, games, text messing etc. my wife and I just want them so we can get a hold of them when we need to or they can call in an emergency.

What are your opinions on which is the best pay as you go phone plan or some sort of alternative?
There is a mobile designed for use with kids. It's called a firefly.

All you need to know and get going is on the web site -

http://www.fireflymobile.com/
Reply:The best one around is Virgin Mobile, you can control everything from the interent, so your boys can't run up huge bills without the passwords.
Reply:there are 2 plans i have heard of...

1 is a plan from Disney,(i guess you should go to their site)they say you can program how much time your kids can have, that way you pay for a plan and you decide how you will divide the time each one uses.

the second there are some special phones for children.

you can program 5 numbers and that's it,i don't know what company or price it has?but,it's on all the time at the cartoon shows.
Reply:Everytime I bought a ringtone or whatever, you had to go online from your computer, or through your phone. The lower-priced, basic phones, don't connect to the internet. And, since you're managing the account, only you will have online account access.

Virgin Mobile http://www.virginmobileusa.com I've used. They are reasonable priced, the phones, and the rates. If you choose to prepay, you have to put $20 in your account, every 3 months (weather you need to, or not). The rate is 18 cents per minute for phone calls, and 5 cents for a text message.

I'm not going to say they are the best, because I don't know about other companies.
