Do you believe Movie Stars get paid too much? Why or why not?

Movie Stars like Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, George Clonney, and Katie Holmes get paid a lot to star in a film. Some movie stars get paid over $20 million per film which is about the amount of money the average person makes in their whole entire lifetime.

Yeah, they get payed for going out in public and do nothing. This annoys the heck out of me because there are people with REAL talent like scientists and people finding cures for disease, and then you have the movie stars who don't do anything but have fun and get money.

Reply:I think athletes get paid too much.
Reply:Ummm.... who was your math teacher? Someone would have to earn $200,000 per year for 100 years to earn $20 million dollars. Few people will earn that much in their lifetimes.





That being said, I believe that people earn what they are worth in the marketplace. The reason that a brain surgeon makes more money than the checker at your local grocery store is that the service he provides is in higher demand than the checker's. Likewise, Americans are willing to pay a lot of money to be entertained, so celebrities make a lot of money. If we paid less for the product, their wages would come down.





Simple economics.

Reply:Yeah! They should give that money to the writers (me.)
Reply:Somewhat, yes. Then again, they spend a whole lot on high-end clothing, personal trainers, bodyguards, airline tickets, etc. Celebrities, too. Britney Spears made $4 million for one song.
Reply:Um not really, because we all want to see there movies and billions of people see them so why shouldnt they get that much?


but I think they should atleast donate some of that money to charity, for all the money they have donating "10 000 dollars" is selfish.

Reply:Well its society that lets them get paid that much. We look up to them SO much that over time they started demanding more and more just for their faces to be appeared on a film. They know that if a common movie star is in a movie more people will watch it rather than some no name actor. I think that Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Doctors, People in Military, Teachers, and any one who HELPS the world in a good way should be paid that much money. Still wouldnt mind being an actress though! ha
Reply:Yes, they make wayy to much just for acting.


It is unfair, because many others work WAYY harder than them. All they do is remember some scripts and learn how to act well.


They are wayy overpaid
Reply:Yeah. They get to do something they love when police officers risk their life to protect us for a fraction on the pay and benefits. Along with professional athletes.
Reply:Yes. They are way overpaid. This why I rent DVDs from the library instead of going to the cinema.
Reply:yeah they do but someone has to pay for all the security they have to have from stalkers. and attorneys to keep them above the law are expensive.
Reply:I agree to me teachers,police people,fireman...they deserve that pay not some future Hollywood drop out.
Reply:I only hope they'd donate all that money to charity and help out all the sick and poor people in the world...Too many stars get paid for acting stupid, showing off their coochy and getting into accidents...





What the hell is the world coming to?
Reply:maybe a little bit too much, but you have to remember that they have to work for months or even years to make a complete film, and they have to do the same scenes over and over again which would get really annoying, and they also have to make each scene perfect with amazing acting skills. sounds very stressful to me.

What makes these people so special?
Reply:Hell yes, all they do is memorize a script and thats it. Hell, I can do that too.
Reply:i think they do. i mean hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars per film......THAT'S HUGE!!! i take care of people for a living and only make like 12.00 an hour and i feel like my job is actually for the greater of mankind. i don't know where I'd be with out movies i love though, so i am not going to complain too extensively about their stars salary, but i DO feel that they are quite over paid!
