How much would you pay for childcare?

I need some opinions of how much to pay someone to take care of my daughter before %26amp; after school. She is 9 %26amp; needs someone to make sure she gets on the schoolbus %26amp; back off in the afternoon. There would be about 45 min in the morning %26amp; an hour to an hour 1/2 in the afternoon. How much should I charge. We live in Pennsylvania if that helps any.

How much would you pay for childcare?
10 dollars a day
Reply:Well for Full day care, the cost is betweein 140-180. I think for before and after care you should charge in the range of 50-75 and you should include an afternoon snack and assistance with homework. The child will not be in your care for more tha 2.5 hours per day.
Reply:$50 a week
Reply:i would look into the safekey program or before and after school daycare the school provides. Here in Las Vegas it is $7 a day....very cheap they eat breakfast and get a snack after school.
Reply:Keep in mind you are asking for premium service. It is much easier to find a babysitter for a solid chunk of hours. Two seperate short times will cost you a bit more. The person has to drive there and back, and take such a short amount of time out of their day at prime times. That makes it hard to hold a second job.

Since school starts later for the younger children, you can't even get a high school student to do it. I would offer a flat rate for the week. You are looking at about 10 hours of care a week, but to get someone to stay you will need to probably pay about $100-$125 a week. It is important you find someone who can make a long term commitment so your daughter knows there is someone in her life who will always be there.

In reference to the above poster: This is not a company watching a group of childern. This is one person doing specific services catering directly to the childs need. If you could find a group of kids in the neighborhood who all needed the exact same care at the exact same time, then $55 per child would be more reasonable. You get what you pay for. This is your daughter we are talking about. You want someone who you feel comfortable with.
Reply:My son is in an after-school program and spends an average of about 3 hours there a day, and it is $50 per week. That includes after-bus care, homework help and an afternoon snack, as well as supervised playtime.

I would DEFINATELY not pay more than that for what you are suggesting.

We're in Texas.
Reply:When my daughter was in a school sponsored before and after care program here in PA (Bucks County) I paid $130 a month for 1 hour in the morning and 2 hours after school. Now mind you - that is a group setting in a large facility so prices are cheaper.

Privately, I pay $20 per day if I have my "nanny" take the reigns on this task - again premium service because of the broken time frame and it's an occassional thing. For a regularly scheduled weekly thing I would expect $40-$50/ week.
Reply:I work at a daycare and we charge $58 for before and after school care. We take the children to and from school with breakfast and an afternoon snack.
