How important is it to be financially set up before having a child?

I have always thought it to be very important but am now getting VERY clucky. I am 30 and my partner is 37 and we both have decent jobs. However, we are renting our flat and have card debts and bills to pay like everyone else. Its his opinion that we should wait until we're more financial (and probably married). Realise its just my bio clock but also know that many people have children and are far worse off than us financially... What to do?

It's this simple....."if you WAIT till you're ready (financial, emotionally) to have kids, you'll never have them because you are never going to be 'ready'".....it is ever so true. Of course it helps to be sitting pretty financially and feeling your absolute best emotionally....but chances are, if you wait till those two issues are optimal, you just won't have kids. You will never be fully prepared or ready for them. It's something you just gotta do. If I were you, I would tell your fiance that you want to get pregnant now, get married when you're showing and just take it from there. It'll be funner that way. Just do it, don't plan it or think about it too much...it takes the fun out of it. Cause there is ALWAYS something to worry about when it comes to such a big life changing event. Just do it!
Reply:talk to your partner about how you feel. the biological clock starts ticking faster after 30. if you want kids there is no perfect financial situation to raise them in. i am not rich and i have a daughter. it takes not only money but love to raise kids. good luck

Reply:Takes 2 ppl to have a baby- not just money- marriage would be nice first too, though.





If he is not ready, it would not be wise to do it anyway, wait until you both want the dame thing. Women have babies into their 40s now.

Reply:Go ahead and have a baby! They make life worth living! The older you get, the more risk's for baby! People do it all the time in situations like yours... no big deal. At least you have means to take care of a chil/children!!! I say go for it! Good luck!
