Lately, whenever I'm slowing down in my car, it seems to kind of slightly lurch forward a few times right before I come to a compete stop. Someone told me that my rotors were probably warped and thats why it was doing that but I wanted to try to get a second opinion without having to pay someone to look at it. Anyone have any idea?
How do I know if I need new rotors on my car?
If they are warped you will feel a pulsating sensation on the brake pedal as you stop. If able take the rotors off and have an auto parts store check for thickness and if they are warped. If warped and are thick enought they can just turn them and then if needed you can get new brake pads while you are at it. If rotors are too thin to turn you will have to buy new ones.
Reply:If you have four wheel disk brakes then your steering wheel would most likely shake when you apply the brakes if your rotors are warped in the front, or if they are warped in the rear then your seat would shake. If you have never had your rotors machined then you can take them to a reputable shop and they can do that for you fairly cheaply.
Reply:If it's lurching it's probably the rear brakes not the front. Have the drums and rotors machined to eliminate the out of round condition.
Reply:does it do it at medium to high speeds?
it should feel like a pulsing in the brake pedal
if it doesn't do these things you probably just have grabby rotors or hot spots on the rotors
how many miles on car and what type?
