Is paying with a debit card the same as paying with good old fashioned cash?

I would like to try to bargain on an expensive piece of merchandise. You can bargain easier if you pay with cash, in my opinion. But is good old fashioned cash in hand considered the best bargaining tool? Can the debit card be considered the same? In this day an age, I feel unconfortable walking around with 35, $100 bills!

Reply:I think so, it's not like you need to wait for it to clear or anything....the only downside is a paper trail. A lot of people prefer cash because it's easier to hide on tax returns, whereas, a debit purchase is still like a cheque in it's ability to be tracked.
