Does anyone know the difference between jobs in social care and social work and what are they each like?

I'm looking to work in the social services and wanted to know if anyone knew about the different jobs and what the the difference between a 'social worker' and a 'social carer' is. People tell me its really hard work and not very well paid so does anyone have an opinion?

I have not heard of the term social care worker, but it sounds like a home health care position. These are usually the lowest paid workers in the healthcare system. A social worker is a term that can be attached to many professional roles the title is almost meaningless unless you know the context and professional education of the person. Generally if the person has an MSW they are trained in both clinical and administrative aspects of work in helping people negotiate transitions in their lives and in improving the fit between people and the sytems in their lives. Salaries range quite it bit depending on area in the coutry and field of practice.
Reply:dont know really i have a family support worker for my son is that just another name for social worker i find her very helpful
Reply:social care workers work closely supporting people. Doing all the day to day stuff. Poorly paid but very rewarding.

Social workers take more of a managerial role in finding the social care workers/support agencies.
