Here is the catch... I have 18 month old twins and one on the way. She has a 6 month old she brings to the house. In my opinion the attention to our children has dropped off since she started bringing her child but she is still good with our kids. We pay her well in my opinion and have never dropped her pay even when she got pregnant and started bringing her child. We pay her 1000.00 every two weeks and pay her taxes. no healthcare, she has it through her husband. from what I have seen the pay is drastically reduced going from a nanny to a nanny with a child so should we offer her anymore for another baby? if so how much? We live in MD and I know we are paying on the high side but any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!
How much should I be paying my live-out nanny?
As a nanny I would say compensate her more for another child especially since it will be an infant. I would talk to her and she if she would be willing to find someone o watch her child so that she can do her job. I have a 3 yr old but I do not bring her to work with me so tat I can do my job. if she worked anywhere else would she be able to take her child to work with her there?
Reply:Wow... that is nice pay. I would say that she probably would expect a little bit more because it will be one more child to take care of. I wouldn't suggest increasing it a lot seeing as you are already paying her well, but I'd give her a little extra if you can afford it.
Reply:Take it this way.......She is solely responsible for your children when you are not there. She has their life in her hands. She has chosen this as hre career because it may be something she loves to do. It's a very rewarding experience to a part of a childs life, specially from infant stage. Could you survive on just $2000 a month? It's hard! Why should the people sculpting our children be payed any less than a normal job? It's incredibly stressful to take care of infants.
Reply:You are paying her enough already. I wouldn't give her anymore. Think about it this way. How many people can bring their own baby to work with them. Think of all the money she is saving from not paying childcare expenses. You are her daycare afterall. See what I mean?
