What state, in your opinion, provides the most hand-outs?

My vote is for Oklahoma. I grew up in a poverty stricken town there and thinking back on some of the things they handed out to people sickens me. It was just an incentive to be lazy.





First of all, they give out food stamps in the form of an "access card" which is just like a credit card that is only allowed to pay for food purchases (though some grocery stores would bend the rules and enter beer and cigarettes as "grocery"). When you take a blue credit card out of your wallet, the cashier would always enter it as an access card and have to re-do it, they were so used to those things.





Secondly, in lieu of medic-aid, Oklahoma offers a government paid private insurance plan called SoonerCare, which is just like a regular plan but the state picks up the tab. It's a far better plan that what they give state workers, such as teachers.





Finally, it is EXTREMELY easy to get on welfare. Just tell certain psycologists you're too depressed to work, and bingo! you get SSI for life.

What state, in your opinion, provides the most hand-outs?
Washington State is pretty much the same. We have a "Quest" card which is like a credit card but it's for food stamp and TANF cash benefits. For medical we have a program called medicaid. Same thing all you have to say is boo hoo I'm too sad to work......................

Reply:Sorry to change the subject on you but I think this needs to be pointed out. You're a perfect example why I HATE Answers most of the time. It's a self-serving tool for people like you to use to validate their limited opinions. FIVE of the nine people who answered had something positive to say about scrapple ("Do people really eat this stuff called scrapple?"), a thing you NEVER tried in your life, and you vote one of the negative ones as the "best answer" and use it to validate your ill-founded idea ("I figured it would be pretty horrible")! And, all the positive opinions were based on personal experience. All the negative ones were based on heresy! HELLO! Why ask if YOU already know the answers! I think the rational response to a "legitimate" question would have been "Hmm, well, if so many people like it maybe it's better that I thought it would be".

Also, I must point out that while PSF11 and I have had some beef in the past, I can totally see his point. You seem to seek validation for your opinions a lot and on the scrapple question, someone saying "eww that's nasty" doesn't deserve best answer. Rather someone who answered your question completely and thoroughly.....hence someone with actual knowledge of the subject. However, it's a free country and you can do whatever you want.

Reply:I live in Oklahoma. OK is conservative, not liberal so you are way off base. The problem in Oklahoma is not that hand outs are easy, its that a higher percentage of its citizens qualify for welfare than in most states.





You need to realize OK is an extremely conservative state so its pro business anti-labor; wages are low and benefits are kept to a minimum....thus more people per capita qualify for public assistance than in states that are more labor friendly.
