What is your opinion on the movie, "Pretty Woman" THE HOOKER WITH THE HEART OF GOLD?

I just saw it again, today, and even though liked it before, now I think it's one of the worst movies ever made.

It's a statement on the unfortunate fact women's love CAN BE bought, and sometimes that's the only (or best) way to get it.

Julia Roberts starts off in this movie as a prostitute, and she ends up as... a prostitute. The only difference is she found someone rich and handsome enough to pay for her love, rather than just sex

It's no surprise that on the voting scales, women consistently voted this higher than men. Men know the Richard Gere character deserves someone far better than some lowlife hooker!

But with women, it's the whole fairy tale they all desperately want to believe, that no matter how little they have to offer, no matter how low their standing in life, that their Prince Charming, their Mr. Perfect, their Knight in Shining Armour, or as in this movie, their Handsome Millionaire is waiting to sweep them off their feet

What is your opinion on the movie, "Pretty Woman" THE HOOKER WITH THE HEART OF GOLD?
I think you think too much and take this movie too seriously. Women like the movie because they dream of being swept away by a good-looking rich guy who takes them on fantastic shopping trips and winds up being their Prince Charming. It's not a very realistic movie, just a movie, take it for what it is - a fantasy. Most hookers don't look like Julia Roberts, and there aren't that many millionaires roaming Hollywood and Vine looking for directions.
Reply:I found it to be misogynistic, showing off the worst stereotypes of women and presenting them as positive when they're really negative.
Reply:I kinda agree with you on that one.

If you look at the premise of the movie basically Richard Gere buys himself a girlfriend who just so happens to sell her vag to strangers.

How this movie ever became the sweet romantic movie that people fell in love with is mind boggling to me.

On a side note I always thought Gere could have done MUCH better than Julia.
Reply:Why on earth would someone base their life on a movie? And why are you over-thinking this? I cant even believe I read your nonsense... No one believes in that silly movie except apparently you... I cant imagine that any woman have a fantasy of being a hooker. Weirdo... Sounds like you need to ask your doctor for some stronger meds... Or is it that you cant afford them?
Reply:I like this movie
Reply:you made some very good points qudos to you. i do agree with you i always though it was a 3.5-4 star out of 10 movie
Reply:Sure - its the first time Cinderella is seen going down. How romantic.

Prince Charming is a kinky rich guy who gets his kicks paying for it ......

Obviously a match made in heaven (hehe).
Reply:It's just a movie. No myth involved. Living in the metropolis or any other city, we see them everyday. No fairy tale there. And they know it. We know it. Life itself is in the big screen and we act our parts in the story....parts that we ourselves make. I think one who will be in their shoes ought not (or most likely not) believe in that myth if you even call it that way. It's a movie for entertainment. What makes it sell is that good feeling of being entertained for watching the movie..... and not because of the expectations that it could happen in real life.
